NYC & 9/11

I needed to get something out of my system.  I don’t have time to get into details, so I’ll be quick.

I am working at a beer distributor in Queens just across the East River from Manhattan with a view of the entire skyline.  Our contact here just brought in a packet of pictures he took of the world trade centers on 9/11.  The entire sequence was there: both towers burning, one tower collapsing in billowing smoke, then the other tower, then just smoke.  The actual site is probably several miles from here, but it didn’t take much of a zoom lens to capture the details.

It stirred up some reall emotions looking across the river and comparing the skyline now to those pictures.  There were about 30 prints taken in sequence.  Of course, I’ve seen many pictures like these, but I haven’t viewed a person’s personal pictures of the event before.  Somehow, it’s different, more personal.  I’m still sitting here in awe.

Perhaps it wouldn’t hurt for us all to ocassionally be reminded of what happened that day.
